Heard about the Camden market before when I came to London, but never visited. It was recommended last week. It is fascinating. I haven’t done any shopping on this trip mainly didn’t want to carry around. So today is the day. Generally, I’m not a big shopper, have to be in the mood and after about 1 ½ hrs, I’m done. Want to get some little gifts for my kids and the ones at the radio station.
It was open air markets, little shops lining the street. All kinds of things, from souvenirs, to leather ware, punk and goth, artisan goods, hand crafted jewelry. I walked around in wonder of all the things. The food stalls were especially amazing. Pick up some “take away” as they say here and sit in motorcycle seats on the banks of the river.
I couldn’t pass up the vegetarian dim sum. These pictures really do not do it justice, for the fascinating place that it was.
I treated myself to a 10 min. chair massage. Been thinking about getting a hip London haircut and have been eyeing the places. Most are expensive. I walked by this one place had wash, haircut and blowdry for 20 lbs. Wow. I liked the haircut in the pic in the front as well as the hairdressers, who is from Italy. It was so much fun, the hairdresser was so cool and funny..it is really a treat. Love my haircut..but it’s short. Hope I Don’t look too butch..it’s difficult before to attract a man.
The Russian girl, is nursing a broken heart tonight. We’re going to the pub. See how my new haircut works? Stay tuned.
It’s 10 pm, got back from the pub a little while ago.,with Maria..instead of calling her the Russian girl.
Sitting next to me is a girl that is half Italian and half American. She’s traveling Europe before she goes home and pursues another degree. Next to her was an Australian. We all laughed and had fun, over a drink, Wine for me. Maria was struggling to have fun, she did laugh a few times. I told of her of how as a child we were so fearful of the Soviet Union taking over the US. I remember the rumor that if that happens we are allowed one egg a week. The Churches made everyone so fearful that if the soviets ruled us there is not more religion. I’ll never forget those feared atomic bomb attack from the russians of in kindergarten doing those drills where we had to get under our desks. As if that would save us. All the while the fear was used to get big defense budgets. The military- industrial complex. My young friend of 22, couldn’t relate. She said Moscow is beautiful and wonderful.
We ran into the Aussie guys in our room at the Pub..
The Nigerian guy, Emanuel, in our room is really sweet and funny. Before we left for the Pub, I told him that we were going out to look for men. When we returned, I had to confess that we had no luck, and had a big laugh. I said it’s difficult when you have a young heart in an old body. Hehe..
Now back at our place, didn’t feel like staying in the room, so I’m sitting in the newly discovered lounge. Checking it out…
Trying to download pics for my blog, but the internet is sooooo slow. This guy came and set next to me…actually, he probably just wanted to charge his computer..but I can fantasize? His name is Diego, from the Canary Islands. The first person that I have met from there. The Canary Islands, are part of and south of Spain, but closer to North Africa. He is moving to London, looking for a job and a place. We started talking about what we did and our travels. I gave him my card, he went to the Night Moves web site and started looking at the shows. I started explaining the content of each.
He said, Since he’s been in London, this conversation with me is the most interesting of his whole visit. Yeah, sex’ll do it everytime..although some people it makes clam up and move away. We chatted, only got a couple of pics loaded..and said Goodnight.
It was a really fun day.
