It’s the weekend in Puerto Morelos, things get busier. So we’ve been walking around town, hanging by the pool listening to music. We took a taxi to the large supermarket, (Cheddar oo ee) to get some food and snacks. I was sad to find that Martin’s the little grocery store closed. Was told that it was due to Cheddar ooee opening….it didn’t make sense because it was out of the main town.. On,y to find out that a Cheddar ooee had opened in PM a few blocks away.Orie cooked a big breakfast.
Every afternoon à car comes loaded with parties from a bakery in Cancun.

Orie: A Snorkeler is Born

My friend and former co worker, Orie, we retired about the same time. She’s always said that she’s afraid of the water and doesn’t swim.
I got her to go tubing in the river, then swim in Lake Texoma, 30 ft deep wearing a life jacket. She is particularly afraid of the ocean and the unknowns in it.
Been working with her at home, fitting her gear, and explaining everything.
Last eve, she practiced in the pool, before we go out to the reef in a boat. I was so proud of her…swimming around the pool on snorkel. Another person that loves the ocean is born!!!!
Trip to Puerto Morelos: Arrival into Paradise

Picture from our deck and pool. Great place to chill.

Arrived, Flight were uneventful…both on time. Customs and immigration a breeze. Happy limousine waiting for us. Lisbeth met us for our apartment.
Went to dinner at El Pescado, next door, and walked around after. I was so tired. Slept very well. This morning, ate a delicious omelet breakfast at El Nicho.
Now we’re back, chilling. Going swimming upstairs. Gonna try to get Orie to practice with snorkel. Checked the water, windy and choppy today.
I had fears that Puerto Morelos would change after a year, especially with talk of cruise ships discovering this paradise, that I love.
With cruise ships, you get $14.00 guacamole….an inside joke with my daughter.
We went on a cruise a year ago. They offered classes on salsa making, only $100. per person or a guacamole making for $150. per person. We laughed about it so much. Everyone knows how to make those dishes where we live in south Texas. …we laughed so much that we got really hungry for guacamole.
At the next stop…went to a Mexican restaurant….the guacamole was $14.00 for a little bowl. In San Antonio it is $3-5.00.
That’s what cruise ships do to a little town.
