Final Ocean Day
Casual Day
This morning, much to my dissappointment, its really windy. Went to pier, very few boats. Saw Joaquín, terrible day for snorkeling. He offered to take us to the cenotes tomorrow if still windy.

Went to the plaza, a craft fair was going on.

Went to breakfast at El Nicho, a favorite. They just opened a new back patio. Orie loves their eggs Benedict. I tried a new omelet but didn’t like it as much as my standbys.
We has 2 breakfasts, cofre and fresh squeezed juice for $14.00 US. From the picture the sauce looks green, it wasn’t. it was so delicious.

Went to the store, did a little shopping. Time was going fast..Its Sunday,.leaving on Wed.
Most evenings we visit the mobile bread and dessert car.

The Turtle Garden and Iguana

Found a turtle mounting another.

The mánager told us that a COATI MUNDI (mexican raccoon) got in and attacked 2 turtles (tortugas in spanish). They bit of an arm of of 2 turtles. U can see that the larger os missing his right arm. Poor thing. Hope the smaller male wasn’t taking advantage of her.

Por turtle only has one arm (tripod)
Heres the vermit that but of the turtles arm…..Coati Mundi

One of several Iguanas that comes to visit

Taking it Easy
A Day at the Beach
Magnificent, Although Not Ideal Conditions
Planned to snorkel and film the reef. Its windy this morning. Arrived at the pier, not sure about going out…. but I has my gear, was slathered with reef friendly suncreen. So hey why not. Visability made filming imposible, so another day for that.We picked up 2 teachers from Seattle at their place.

Saw a sea turtle.

A Beautiful Day in the Caribbean Sea
This morning the sun was shining the winds were low. Met Joaquín at the pier. Went snorkeling with a couple from Kentucky and a couple from eastern Canada.
I was already un the waters. I like to be first because your able to see things under the boat before the others get in. Pictures much better today.

Trumpet Fish

This pompano is huge. Cant really tell.

Rainy Day

Was waiting all weekend for today. The wind was its lowest for the week. Hoping for good underwater pics today. Got up go grey cloudy skies. The natural light wont be good. Got ready and met Joaquin at the pier at 10 a.m. while waiting waiting for other snorkelers to arrive. It started pouring rain. We agreed to meet again at 12:30.
Came back at 12:15. Still raining. The pier is deserted. No snorkeling today.
We just hung it at our place….listening to músic for my trusty Ipod. I’m working on this blog. Layed in the hammock, watching the rain.

In the Ocean: First Snorkel Day

Planning to meet Joaquin, Divemaster, for a Day of snorkeling. It’s Orie’s first time snorkeling in océan. I want conditions to be optimal. Could tell when we walked to the pier, it was windy. Wasn’t sure it was a good idea but decided to go for it.
It’s windy, choppy, and the swimming against the current was rough. We’d swim up to the reef but the current pushed us away back to the eel grass. Orie did really well. She hung onto the life preserver and the divemaster pulled her around. It was great, most first time snorkelers have problems breathing through the snorkel. She mástered it.
Although the current was strong and waters was stirred up, got some pictures.
