Today, am going to the British Museum. Taxi’s are killing me, so expensive, but I love them. There is a bus, that goes direly to the British Museum. I’m taking it. It was about a 20 min ride. I started talking to this Saudi young man and we had lots of laughs. I went to the British Museum many years ago. Was fascinated with all the Egyptian exhibits. At that time, I walked through a huge room of books, but the time I discovered it, it was the end of the day, and I had little time to look. Randy however found that room, had time, and bragged about for years. So today I want to see the book room..of famous first editions, text through the middle ages, M many gorgeously illustrated books, Mystic text, and a book made of skin. Today, I found the room is closed and has been for many years. Oh, disappointed. It’s one of those examples of taking the opportunity when you can because it may never come again.
The Rosetta Stone, that made it possible to translate the hieroglyphs.
Out side of Egyptian tomb
I
wandered around the museum for hours. Spent a lot of time at the Egyptian mummy stuff. The exhibit seems newer than I remember. I like the early explorers and their botanical and animal specimens. There is more of that in the Natural History Museum but probably won’t make it with the limited time I have left. I hope to get to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Stopped for coffee and met a lovely couple from the Netherlands, out side of Amsterdam, a favorite city. He actually invited me to stay at their place if I came to Amsterdam. Took the bus back in the afternoon. I was tired so took a little nap, now ready to go with a second wind. It was a little early for dinner, so I went to the lounge, trying to download some pics for this blog. Met Diego, from a couple of nights ago. We walked to a chinese restaurant and had a bite of dinner and told stories. It was so much fun to have someone to eat with. I still can’t get used to dinning alone, don’t enjoy it solo at all. Back to my room, getting ready for tomorrow. It’s my last work, Sat, before I leave on Tues. I’m attending a BDSM workshop and interviewing the speaker, Faery London. Should be an interesting day! Stay tuned!
