My nephew, Clint Walker, is a story of local boy making good. Just a Oklahoma boy, he was always an athlete, was to be the future pro baseball pitcher. In middle school, got frustrated with team sports because everyone on the team didn’t work as hard as he did. Upon discovering skateboarding, he found his solo sport and his greatest love. He moved to Los Angeles with the goal of working for Birdhouse, the skating holy grail, while working at a tee shirt shop….and the rest is history.
He works for Tony Hawk at Birdhouse, just turned pro, and is on tour around the world. He just won first place in the X GAMES 2014 in Austin TX,
He and a group of skaters are on a year tour all around the world. They call themselves the “Oklahomies“. They are traveling around the USA in an RV. He recently went to China. They are currently in Denver for a month. My plan is to visit them in Denver for an interview for my radio show. I also want to go to Colorado to see first hand how the legalization of recreational cannabis is going? It’s a good surprise to find out he is coming home to Oklahoma, and I’m here waiting like a spider in the web, hehe.
There is so much happiness, joy and excitement waiting for Clint and the skating boys to arrive. My sister in law, Beth, Clint’s mom, is in the kitchen cooking for 2 days for the boys. It is something that I can really relate to, as our house was the hangout place for my son’s friends. Randy always said, “Boys are always hungry, we have to feed to boys” We always cooked for them.
Clint arrived on Fri. night, we went out to dinner and, Louisa, a female friend of his that drove up from Austin. The other skating boys are arriving the next day.
When the boys arrived, I gave them a while to get acclimated. Clint had previously informed them of my goal of interviews on Sex. Thought I would wait till after the fabulous dinner Beth was making….Steak and shrimp, grilled by my brother, Keith. (He spent almost $300.00 on the steaks) also included was grilled potato salad, homemade rolls, broccoli and cheese sauce, and banana pudding.
After dinner, I talked a couple of them about the interview, and they almost ran from the room. I looked around and they ALL disappeared. This isn’t going to be easy. So, one by one, I had to reel them in, and finally got the whole group. Clint did an excellent interview and spoke from the heart.

After the interviews, they skated in the barn that Clint and my brother Keith built. I retired at midnight, I think the boys stayed up most all night. In the morning there were boys asleep all over the house. Another fond familiar sight. The left that afternoon, Clint and a group, driving back to Denver.

Saying Goodbye and I got clint’s first pro skateboard autographed.
